At the recently held 2025 Tianmen Apparel E-commerce Industry Conference, Xia Lingmin, Secretary-General of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, stated that in the face of a complex and ever-changing global economic and trade environment, China's textile industry has adopted a resolute attitude of "embracing challenges head-on and boldly pursuing innovation," actively addressing the challenges posed by international markets. Meanwhile, with the support of the nation's overarching macroeconomic policies, the entire industry has demonstrated a solid trend of steady growth.
Data shows that from January to May, key economic indicators in the textile industry—including production, domestic sales, exports, and investment—experienced growth across the board. Overall performance exceeded expectations, with the economy maintaining a generally stable operation. Specifically: - The industrial value-added of China's large-scale textile enterprises increased by 3.4% year-on-year. - Retail sales of apparel, footwear, and textiles at enterprises above the designated size rose by 3.3% year-on-year, accelerating by 1.3 percentage points compared to the same period last year. - Online retail channels continued to show sustained improvement, with nationwide retail sales of apparel products increasing by 1.2% year-on-year from January to May. - Total exports of textiles and apparel grew by 1%. - Fixed asset investments in the textile, apparel, and chemical fiber industries recorded rapid growth, rising by 15.1%, 27.7%, and 16.4% year-on-year, respectively.
Against the backdrop of overall stability in the industry's supply side, coupled with increasingly robust support from the nation's "Dual Circulation" and "Two New" policies, leading enterprises are accelerating their transformation and upgrading toward high-end, intelligent, and green development. Xia Lingmin noted that this year marks the breakthrough year when artificial intelligence is deeply empowering various industries across the board. The China National Textile and Apparel Council is actively exploring new pathways for the integrated development of AI technology and the textile and apparel industry. Since the beginning of the year, the Distribution Branch has conducted on-site research trips to cities including Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Puyuan, Keqiao, Changshu, and Qingdao, comprehensively assessing the practical applications and tangible outcomes of AI technologies within the textile and apparel sector.
A group of leading digital technology enterprises in the textile and apparel industry is leveraging technological innovation as the driving force to fully explore cutting-edge areas at the intersection of artificial intelligence and industrial integration. Lingdi Technology has introduced its "3D + AI" technology, which can complete the entire process—from fabric selection and creative concept generation to design modeling and simulation rendering—in just two hours, producing highly realistic digital prototypes ready for direct production. Meanwhile, Hansi Intelligent Technology’s intelligent production scheduling algorithms, AI-based quality inspection systems, and cloud-based supply chain platforms have significantly reduced enterprise costs and time consumption. Additionally, Keqiao District’s “Textile Printing Industry Brain” marks a new chapter in the digital transformation and upgrading of the region’s textile industry cluster.
Xia Lingmin stated that the integration of artificial intelligence with the textile and apparel industry has already achieved significant, phased results, with some AI tools deeply embedded in companies' daily operations. Looking ahead, as AI technologies continue to accelerate their iterative development, the textile industry will enter a new stage of "AI + Industry" implementation. This phase calls for further exploration and expansion of innovative technological tools, groundbreaking R&D achievements, and diverse application scenarios.
